IMU shirts are an outside representation of inside beliefs and values. They stand for a shift in perspective. A chance to reevaluate. A challenge to take a closer look at the people and places that surround us.
This is why community service is the backbone of the IMU mission.
To practice what we’re shouting from rooftops, every IMU employee is required to participate in 8-10 hours of community service per month.
Participating in any form of community service is a gratifying experience, and it’s only magnified when working with youth. In addition to nurturing and expanding upon their education, there’s an opportunity to open their minds to serving their own communities.
Our staff will volunteer with local schools and organizations, participating in activities before, during or after school. In an effort to create a cycle of service, wherein youth recognize the importance of social responsibility, we’ll extend our service challenge to the students. Should they accept, they’ll have an opportunity to participate in future community service endeavors alongside IMU staff. The hope is to impress upon young people the life-changing effects of giving back.
So this is what IMU is all about—spreading happiness and connecting to our communities. Each IMU shirt will represent an hour of community service from our customer. So as a bit of motivation for you to get out and live the IMU mission, we’re going to sweeten the deal the best way we know how: DISCOUNTS!
All it takes is proof that you’ve completed one hour of community service,* within 8 weeks of an IMU purchase. Once it arrives to IMU HQ, we’ll send you an email detailing how to receive a 20% discount on a future IMU purchase. What counts as proof? A signed, dated description of the work you perform, on official letterhead, from the organization for which you volunteer.
*For your reading enjoyment, the official IMU definition of community service is:
An unpaid act of giving oneself voluntarily towards an organization focused on bettering the lives of community youth and/or providing educational services for community youth. The service one performs should benefit the community and reflect the values and principles of I Miss You, Inc. and the IMU brand.
